it will be faster, although for some reason acer put the memory module under the keyboard which is hard to get to.

Personally I hear Linux OS run alot faster on the netbooks then windows XP, if you want to run that route.

1 GB ram is pretty nice. Its about a medium for a gameing machine. But ya you have plenty of ram. Your computor just stinks. Do you have a virus? Do you have a nice motherboard? Do you defrag your computor every month or so? Theres alot of things that could be wrong or just plain lame, but you have a nice bit of ram.

The Acer Aspire One is a netbook and isn't designed for speed it is designed for portability and computing on the go

The reason the computer is slow is that the processor is only a 1.6Ghz celeron and basic setup

If it is running windows xp then run a disk defragment (start, programs, accessories, system tools)

The amount of RAM may not be the issue it may just need a defrag or remove some unused programs to check the amount of RAM used press ctrl (bottom left hand corner of keyboard) alt (next to spacebar) and del (top right hand corner on your keyboard) together ctrl+alt+del then go to start task manager and then choose performance tab this will show how much is in use if it is nearly all or more RAM than the system has then upgrade otherwise do what else i suggested
