So its official HP has made an overview page for thier first smartbook. Compaq AirLife 100 delivers a new way of connecting to the Internet, email, social networking, photos, music, and more.

 Post subject: AMD processors get into the Netbook Space

As the topic says, Acer is coming up with a Model which will have its brain using the AMD processors..

The CPU will be accompanied by AMDM880G a chipset with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4225 integrated, managed by 384MB of dedicated memory but has not yet been announced.

We need to wait for the model to come to the market to get a better idea of things.

Haleron is selling the Swordfish Mini for prices between $139 - $199.
If you where to get 101 units then each unit would cost $139 but if you where to get one, which most retail customer would get then the price would be $199. I would say it would be a reasonable price!!

Although the Chrome OS will be free we technical requirements for running Chrome OS might not be cheap. For one, Eee Times reports that Google’s hardware requirements also included “high performance graphics, accelerometers, and other sensors.”

Getting those sensors into the device is going to increase the cost of the system.

People are running pre-release versions of Chrome OS on netbooks today. so it;s clear that the OS is capable of running on a standard ...

A few weeks back Coby’s $85 retail price was though to start a new tidal wave at the low end of the smartbook market. And now we have the answer

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen at CeBIT discusses about Smartbooks.

About Smartbooks :
Despite the Snapdragon Eee PC that ASUS showed off last year, Shen isn't sold on putting ARM processors into clamshell form factors -- especially now that Intel has been able to close the price gap. He says ARM is best for this "one piece PC," and that x86 architecture provides a better experience in a netbook design.

The Ubuntu Netbook Edition for Netbooks have been optimized once again to work with ARM-based Smartbooks. So far the Netbook Edition was focused only on Atom Processors but now as Smartbooks are near to production another version of Ubuntu for Smartbooks are available.

As the original Ubuntu Netbook interface needs 3D hardware Drivers the Smartbook edition will have 2D Enlightenment Foundation Libraries instead of 3D hardware support to provide graphical effects.
