What is the difference between the Qualcomm Snapdragon & Nvidia Tegra 250?

Let me share with all of you what I know. As for the SoC itself, for now it seems that Nvidia is leading the pack with its Tegra 250 (a.k.a Tegra 2) SoC because it uses ARM Aplication Processor (CPU) core called Cortex-A9, which is out-of-order. Forget about other 6 cores in the Tegra 250 SoC as I'm only discussing about the CPU.

For current version of Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, they uses their own design (based on ARMv7 architecture) CPU called Scorpion but the thing is the current Scorpion is only comparable (though it is their own implementation of ARMv7) to ARM Cortex-A8 which is in-order as opposed to Cortex-A9 which is out-of-order.



One more thing that I want to point out is the difference between Tegra 250 SoC and Snapdragon SoC in term of Licenses:

1) Tegra 250 - Nvidia is one of ARM Implementation Licensees. Meaning that more or less everything about the CPU (Cortex-A9) done for them by ARM.

2) Snapdragon - Qualcomm is one of ARM Architecture Licensees. Meaning that they design their own CPU (based on ARM architecture). This can be a double edged sword as the good side is that you can bring in you technical expertise to make a good processor that can even beat ARM's own comparable CPU. The down/difficult side it that you need a vast amount of expertise to make it happen as oppose to the Implementation Licensees.
